La Costa History

LCR founder Di Dootson speaks on Black Hill and Slalom racing that took place in the mid 70s:

Casual racing quickly turned to organized races on Sundays at barren hills in La Costa, Carlsbad, CA in 1974. Skateboard companies used the races to test their new equipment and recruit team riders. The presence of Warren Bolster, SkateBoarder Magazine, gave La Costa a national spotlight for slalom racing. The National Skateboard Review newspaper started as a La Costa race results publication.
